ATSC for pensacola, fl
Added by Joshua Welch almost 13 years ago
I work for the cable company, so I have access to our frequencies. I pulled them up and got this for clear qam stations:
FCC Desig Base Freq Video Freq Audio Freq BTSC SAP EAS Comm Ins Program Type Mod Type Content Set Top Chan Rev Date 110 708 711 0 Digital AGC 256 QAM WJTC HD 1016 05/27/2011 110 708 711 0 Digital AGC 256 QAM WSRE 4 695 05/27/2011 110 708 711 0 Digital AGC 256 QAM WSRE HD 1009 05/27/2011 110 708 711 0 Digital AGC 256 QAM WSRE SD 2 693 05/27/2011 110 708 711 0 Digital AGC 256 QAM WSRE SD 3 694 05/27/2011 104 672 675 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM FOX - WALA 1010 10/27/2011 104 672 675 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM The Country Network 119 10/27/2011 104 672 675 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM WEAR - ABC 1003 10/27/2011 106 684 687 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM ESPN HD 1040 10/27/2011 106 684 687 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM ESPN U HD 1322 10/27/2011 106 684 687 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM TBS HD 1007 10/27/2011 108 696 699 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM Local Origination 98 10/27/2011 108 696 699 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM WDPM 17 10/27/2011 108 696 699 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM WFNA HD 1015 10/27/2011 111 714 717 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM METV 699 10/27/2011 111 714 717 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM WKRG HD 1005 10/27/2011 111 714 717 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM WKRG Radar 697 10/27/2011 111 714 717 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM WPMI HD 1008 10/27/2011 111 714 717 0 HD Broadcast 256 QAM WPMI WxPlus 696 10/27/2011 39 312 315 0 HD Broadcast Must Carry 256 QAM The Cool TV 118 08/01/2011 39 312 315 0 HD Broadcast Must Carry 256 QAM WFGX HD 1020 08/01/2011
I tested them and found that 717,000 kHz, 711,000 kHz, 699,000 kHz, 675,000 kHz, 315,012 kHz are the correct frequencies for this area, and I pull 18 channels up from it.
How can this information be added to the default list of muxes, so others can choose it?

Joshua,
tvheadend takes it information about muxes from the lists that are maintained by the dvb-apps suite of tools.
You can browse the lists here:
http://linuxtv.org/hg/dvb-apps/file/69fc03702a64/util/scan/atsc
As you can see there are not many lists available for atsc. This is mainly because there are a couple of standard lists with all possible frequencies that are defined in the US.
So if you take one of these standard list you should also get the same results. Any mux that you do not need can then be removed from tvheadend via the GUI.
Can you try if you get the same results if you use for example the "us-Cable-Standard-center-frequencies-QAM256" list of predefined muxes?
(I picked that one because it contains the frequencies that you mentioned)
If you like a smaller list, then you can format the list according to the standards for ATSC frequencies list and then submit them to the linux-media mailing list for inclusion in the dvb-apps suite of tools.
Hope this makes things clear for you.

I came up with
# Pensacola, FL frequencies A 315012500 QAM256 A 675000000 QAM256 A 699000000 QAM256 A 711000000 QAM256 A 717000000 QAM256
based on that list.
Does that look like what I should send to the mailing list? Can you provide the mailing list address?
Thanks!
PS: Yes I used the standard QAM256 list. The problem was that it found over 2000 services and was so slow it would take days to scan. This list is much more manageable.

well, you can always remove unwanted muxes from the list while it is scanning. That way you end up with less muxes and is it finished sooner.
Also .. I would name the file based on the cable network that you are attached to (comcast? cox?)
You can find the information about the mailing list here:
http://linuxtv.org/lists.php
Are you sure the first frequency is correct? I find it weird that it has a different offset then the others.
And .. are there any "Network Information Tables" on an ATSC cable network? so that the information about other valid muxes is transmitted together with the digital signal?

Yea it is just hard to remove them while it is scanning because it jumps around a lot.
The first frequency is correct, it gives MyNetworkTV and CoolTV, it is odd that it is an "off numbering". I work for cox, so I can't comment on any other provider in the area.
I'm not sure what "Network Information Tables" are, it does transmit stations names if that is what you are talking about.
The mailing list address I found is: [email protected]
Is that right? I changed the header to this:
- Pensacola, FL frequencies - Cox Communications
