Loosing EPG events with EIT and XMLTV
Added by Martin Mrvka about 12 years ago
I've a strange issue with 3.3.17~geb8a96c and loosing EPG information.
Usually I'm using EIT only, which is more or less fine for basic information. While trying to enhance EPG with episode information I've sent som e XMLTV using the new unix socket variant.
After sending the data to the socket, information from XMLTV shows fine in the EPG listings, however after a couple of minutes some of the new imported events disappeared together with the information which has been there before coming from EIT.
This was reproduceable - same events vanished.
After disabling EIT and just using XMLTV, it worked.

This is unfortunately a side-effect that can happen if you try and use 2 EPG systems that don't properly agree. TVH does it's best to merge the info, unfortunately if the basic schedule doesn't agree, i.e. the times don't match. It will become confused and stuff will not work as intended.
There are things that could be done to improve this, but thus far I've not had a chance.

Thanks Adam
I turned off EIT for now. and with the wonderful XMLTV socket, I can prepare the data outside TVH and import once a day.
