Bug #5830
openPoor MUX discovery for DVB T2
0%
Description
I've been using Tvheadend very successfully for several years using both DVB-T and DVB-S2 tuners. When recently trying to add a DVB-T2 tuner to my server, the current software for MUX discovery made the installation much more difficult than my previous experience.
I am based in the UK with the my antenna pointed at the Tacolneston transmitter. I therefore selected this option when defining the network setup. As previously, 7 MUX frequencies are populated automatically and than a further 3 are discovered. For SD channels this is not a problem as these are supplied by 5 of the 10 identified Muxes. For HD channels however there are two problems:
1) The scan for services yields a 'FAIL' result on the DVB-T2 MUXes
2) One of the three operational DVB-T2 MUXes is missing from the original scan.
Both of these problems can be worked around by editing the MUX list with the appropriate transmission parameters (including frequency in case 2), but it would be much easier if the software were updated with up-to-date MUX lists, and also if it could pre-populate any discovered DVB-T2 MUXes with the correct transmission parameters.
The necessary information is already collated by the Linux TV people at https://git.linuxtv.org/dtv-scan-tables.git/tree/dvb-t
