Bug #5388
Kill hanging xmltv grabbers after save timeout
0%
Description
Hi,
a hanging xmltv grabber breaks egrabber updates. After killing the hanging tv_grab_eu_dotmedia (after serveral days!) it worked immediately again. perexg proposes to kill an egrabber after a safe timeout.
[16:32] <rdo> Hi, xmltv stopped working for me, I so not see any schedules in tvheadend anymore. Are there any logs I could check?
[16:33] <rdo> If I run $ tv_grab_eu_dotmedia on the cmdline, the output looks reasonable.
[17:01] <rdo> Solution was simple: I killed an "/usr/bin/perl w /usr/bin/tv_grab_eu_dotmedia" instance which seemed to hang since a few days. Afterwards tvheadend kick off a new run automatically and everything works again. Very nice :)
[18:09] <perexg> rdo: create a new bug - we should kill the grabber after a safe timeout probably....
Many thanks
Rainer

I also found that if you terminate tvh while a grabber is running it doesn't kill it.
(in my case, one of the grabbers was taking 2 to 3 minutes to complete)
It would be nice that when exiting tvheadend any spawn'ed grabber should be killed also.
