Bug #4911
htsp protocol - EPG data appears in the wrong fields
100%
Description
I'm not sure of the correct names, however Sat>IP EPG data appears in the wrong fields - for example, the detailed programme description will appear in the (I think) subtitle and series/season fields. The description is not viewable in OSMC/Kodi EPG, unless on a screen that shows the subtitle/series/season.
I have another xmltv set of channels, where data appears in the correct places.

Hi,
SAT>IP sources are simple "tuners". So when you use SAT>IP you're in fact receiving regular DVB transmissions. Then, your problem is with the EPG introduced by the broadcaster. It's very common that broadcasters include incorrect/inexact EPG data.
However, you can provide some transponder dump. We can parse it and found if it's possible to do something for fix your particular case.
Regards.

Few screenshots to hopefully illustrate better.
description-correct-place-xmltv - shows the programme description below the main data, this is an XMLtv import.
description-wrong-place-1 - No EPG description shown for the programme, as there is no visibility of the subtitle/season from this view. Sat>IP OTA EPG.
description-wrong-place-2 - Description is shown, at the top, but normally this is subtitle/season area. No description shown below the main data. Sat>IP OTA EPG.
I first noticed this when random programmes did not record, because they were set to check for the description/season/series number, after 1 recording of blank description presumably it assumed this episode had already been recorded and so didn't record any further?
Tested with latest 4.3-1028~g7de759e~xenial

Think I must have been adding the screenshots as the last comment was posted, will look into 'transponder dump' - although if I downgrade to a 9xx release, the problem goes away, so I'm not 100% convinced it's a data issue.

Just curious, if it were htsp protocol wouldn’t this impact the channels that got their epg data from an xmltv import in tvh as well? As it all goes over htsp from tvh to osmc? However such channels are fine, it’s only those with ota epg from sat>ip.
Would a trace with epg whilsting running a scan help? Not sure how to do the transponder dump.
