Description

I had two programs recording one evening, however, there was some overlap.

Program 1 finished at 8:35 pm, Program 2 started at 8:25 pm. As result I got 'tuner occupied' messages for 10 minutes and then the recording still started.

It'd be neat if TVHeadend warned for overlapping programs using a tooltip or something and a red warning sign for the programs involved.

At the same time this also made me realise that TVH is not working properly, as the recording shouldn't have been recognised as successful. In addition, there's a rerun on Saturday, but after I deleted the previous recording (or rather, transferred it to my server) from my recording device, and it moved to the 'Failed Recordings' tab for 'File missing', the re-run would still be skipped. My autorec settings for that program were set to 'Record if different episode number'.

FYI I used version 4.1-2236~g817f67e, the same issue appeared with 4.1-2277~gbf75b27 (the current build).

What you're describing sounds like the tuner (I assume you only have one) is only able to send one stream at a time (forced hardware pid filtering) rather than a full mux. You can test this by playing a mux in VLC (copy paste play icon/link from within the muxes tab).

I only have one tuner, and the two programs are not on the same channel/mux so I can't capture them both at the same time. Should've mentioned that in my original post I suppose, but the issue still stands.

As far as I'm aware Tvheadend will always wait for a free tuner and will only deem a recording a fail if it receives nothing during the scheduled recording duration or if a tuner failure occurs, but yes you are right, technically a partial recording isn't a successful one.

I suppose it may be useful to add another sub-tab to the DVR for such partial recordings, and only recordings that fail to start due to the tuners being busy, and then only if a (user-configurable) time (or percent?) of the duration fails to record.

Recordings should fail with "Time missed" in such case
