I have noticed that TVH 4.0.8-3~gc870eb9~wheezy has shown me the "Recording Light (Red Dot)" in the details column, leading me to believe that it was recording, when it was not recording. The station was on a third Mux, but only two tuners where available.

It should only show that indicator if it is actually writing the stream to disk. Any other condition should show the "Failing Exclamation" indicator.

TVH knows it is not recording, if you click on the blue "Info" icon next to it, it may say something like "Waiting for program to start".

This is misleading, if it had been showing the "Failing Exclamation" indicator, I would have known immediately something was wrong.
