The service mapper already has "merge same name" option. I think a "merge similar name" would be also handy, using a more sloppy comparision algorithm (e.g. case-insensitive, only considering alphanumeric characters and ignoring any HD suffix).

In my setup I have SD and HD services mapped to the same channel (selection is done at subscription time based on user preferences). Such mappings could be created semi-automatical.

Importing channel mappings from e.g. a simple editable CSV that allows to use regexp would be also handy. ;-)
