Bug #2810
TVHeadend auto overriding Channel names
0%
Description
TVHeadend automatically overwriting Channel names which were manually defined or picked up from services data.
This is happening since I enabled for some of the channels XMLTV EPG grabbing.
If I correctly understand Help to the channels edit page, the "AUTO EPG CHANNEL" tick box should define,
if tvheadend should or shouldn't be auto getting name from XMLTV data (which I manually linked with channels).
whether this tick is enabled or not, after a while the names are again overwritten.
it is not from services data, because I would like to have those names - in specific almost all content is delivered in SD and HD
quality, this is specified in services data.
But again, as soon as I match XMLTV source, all the channels gets renamed (so in that case the suffix SD/HD gets lost).

The name update settings is in Configuration - Channel / EPG / EPG Grabber - the field Update channel name.
The Auto EPG Channel is for automatic channel lookup (linking XMLTV CHANNEL <-> TVH CHANNEL by name) it has nothing to do with the channel name updates.

thanks for clarification, ... (auto updates of channel names)
regarding the second, that I have this clear as well. general process of creating new channel:
1) channel is mapped (created from service (EPG source empty)
2) if "Auto EPG Channel" is active, tvheadend might (or might not successfully find XMLTV channel)
3) if link is not found, we can always set field "EPG Source" manually
4) if we set manually, but TVH Channel name is such that TVH can find EPG Source, if "Auto EPG Channel" is still active, it might override "EPG Source" on it's own?
so if there ever happened manual linkage, we are advised to untick "Auto EPG Channel" ?
do I understand that correctly ?

- Status changed from New to Invalid
Yes, if you like to disable the auto match for the EPG sources and keep only the manual linking, turn off the "Auto EPG Channel" selection. Marking as invalid.
