Feature #2003
Over-the-air ATSC EPG implementation
0%
Description
There seems to be no way for tvheadend to grab over-the-air epg signals for the North American ATSC format. This feature would greatly enhance the functionality and usability of tvheadend. The Linux program Kaffeine has an ATSC EPG implementation. Could that code be migrated over to tvheadend? I would also be willing to test the new implementation if needed. Thanks for such a great product!

I don't know if anyone realizes this but Kaffeine is no longer maintained. This is the only Linux software that has given us the ability to aggregate and view ATSC epg data. It no longer compiles on Fedora and may not compile on Ubuntu in versions above 14.04. This increases the urgency of getting a working ATSC epg implementation on tvheadend. Can someone please look into it and bring tvheadend into the United States in a more useable manner. If that ability is lost, then one of my greatest joys in the usage of my Linux box will be gone. Please, I beg of you, someone help bring this implementation to light. At least look through the source code of Kaffeine to see if that implementation is salvageable. This is my number one request for the greatest feature that Linux can have.
