Description

If I record two consecutive broadcasts, there is a gap between recording to one file and recording to the next, and the split will be in the middle of one of the broadcasts (It's impossible to predict the exact frame to do the split). Therefore, one of my recordings will be faulty even after manually joining both parts.

Having one big recording with both broadcasts intact would be much more preferable.

I have no idea what is being suggested here? Why would you want to join consecutive broadcasts? Surely they're different shows?

They are different shows, but currently I have one recording with the first show plus the start of the second show in one file and the rest of the second show in the next file - minus the inevitable gap.

If there was no splitting into two files, I'd have both parts without the gap, and since I'd have to watch both parts anyway to see one show, having only one file is easier, too. Besides that, I'll edit and recode the file, so I care about gaps but not about the number of files.

If your stations care about timing and have gaps between the shows, you're better of having two nicely split files. I'd very much prefer that. But in Germany, they are off by 20 minutes (sometimes on special occasions more), and sometimes, there is no gap to automatically and correctly split shows. No nicely split files for me ...

You've configured something incorrectly if you ask me. Have you set appropriate pre/post recording periods to cope with the expected level of inaccuracy in the EPG data that you use?

If things are off by 20 mins then that's unfortunate, and very bad form on the part of the broadcaster to not provide updated EIT feeds (though there is the possibility TVH is not properly using this info, though last time I tested it it was).

I think the most likely thing that will happen is that we will provide more capability to manually set recordings based on channel and start/stop, I think this would probably be more appropriate for what you're trying to achieve.
