Description

Guess this feature will be really welcome for user with more lnbs/sat dishes. TVH currently merging channels with same name from different sats and that results in mess in epg, problems with channel list and also with descrambling channels. I think it will be just few more lines in code if channel name prefix or postfix will be taken from sat config tab /could be from comment column and user decide in general tab if it will be added before channels or in the end during mapping process. im pretty sure that it will make for many users much easier to sort out / number channels. for example to have A23 History HD and A28 History HD

thx

  • Status changed from New to Rejected
  • Parent task set to #1394

The DVB code is being significantly modified and this "should" be a non-issue with the new setup. However I've tagged against the generic DVB Update PR to ensure it doesn't get forgotten.

i think u didnt get the point. troubles with epg are secondary.

btw " and this "should" be a non-issue with the new setup" so.. should i delete all, create .. scan ... map ... rename ... number ... and put icons? are u serious?

1. What on earth has this got to do with the EPG (apart from the minor knock-on effect of the display)?

2. Who asked you to do that?

I was simply pointing out that the DVB code is being re-written to address many of the various problems people have raised (mainly in respect to DVB-S management). And that your specific request should be a non-issue once the changes are complete since it will provide much easier management.

And... because I don't want this problem to be forgotten I've tagged it against the generic FR.

1. problems in epg are only a consequence of channel merging. epg is not in the first place. on the first place is nonsence channel merging, and especially channel sorting and naming.

2. ? is that me who wrote "The DVB code is being significantly modified and this "should" be a non-issue with the new setup" so what u mean exactly with new setup?

btw this not an issue report but feature request. and this feature will help people on more sats.

Sorry for delay in responding. I'll try and clarify things.

The DVB code is being updated, in particular the way in which we internally structure the various elements of a DVB network. Along with this changes will be made that mean that the only things that automatically get "merged" will be identical services (i.e. same ONID/TSID/SID) anything beyond that would require user intervention.

The original channel merging Andreas added was created based on a simpler requirement set for his own personal use on DVB-C (since that's why he wrote TVH). Since its now being used a lot by SAT users where things are quite different he/we accept things need to change and are trying to address them.

My reasoning behind closing the FR is not that I don't think its valid, but simply what I've already said. The code is in the process of being updated and the updates "should" make this is a non-issue since they will implicitly address them. However I have attached this to the generic re-write FR just to ensure its not forgotten.

well just tried to add new muxes and services to existing configuration = Astra 28.2E + 23.5E, recently added astra 19.2E and hotbird 13E, channels merged again thru sats again

as im just noticed, existing manually numbered channels merged into newly created ones. pls reconsider again channel naming issue on different sats, i will bet on it that adding prefix to channel name during mapping configurable in satconf tab will help.
