Bug #1362
Quality of channels degreases
0%
Description
After a while all frequencies have 0% quality.

That would imply that those muxes have poor signal. I don't tend to enable signal monitoring much myself, however when I have had it enabled this only happens on transponders with a bad reception.
Is this happening on ALL muxes?
What is frontend status for the muxes (in the multiplexes tab)?
Are you able to receive TV signals on these if you disable quality monitoring?
Can you please provide a debug log.

Yes it happens to all the muxes. There are 29 muxes which are configured for the Netherlands. About 6 or so have a muxid and a network/networkid. It depends on the location where I'm at (this installation is on a ship). I'm quiet sure it is not hardware related. I have this issue for about at least 6 months and in the mean time I've replaced the entire computer hardware and moved from Ubuntu to Debian. I've installed 2 brand new TV tuners (http://www.terratec.net/en/products/Cinergy_T_PCIe_Dual_134463.html) so I have 4 tuners in the system. I've also replaced the antenna (http://www.glomex.it/product_details.asp?id=V9112/00) and all the cabling. When I connect it directly to a hardware tuner and a TV I get a good signal quality.
I'm not sure what you mean with the frontend status?
I can watch tv when I disable the monitoring but it is not 100% perfect, lots of hickups in audio and video.

Well all this would seem to imply that the problem is hardware/firmware related and that TVH is doing the right thing.
All these "Transport error indicator", are saying that there were problems in the stream (as detected by the tuner, outside of TVH's control). The same goes for the "Counter Continuity Error" (these can happen occasionally without major issues, but if they are regular them something is usually wrong.
Have you tried any other software on the PC to check that?
The frontend status is listed in the Multiplex tab, Configuration -> Adapters -> Mutiplexes. Frontend Status column...

I never tried other software, wel I tried MythTV a while ago but I couldn't get it working so I gave up and found out about TVHeadend. How can check/update the firmware?
There is no 'Frontend Status' column on that page and I can't add it. All the columns were already checked and added. Columns which are visible are Enabled|Network|Frequency|Modulation|NetworkID|MuxID|Quality

well couldn confirm that on some channels i have a lots of continuity erorrs as well, strange is i didnt change a driver, i didnt change a sat setup didnt move a dish etc, and most strange is that other channel on same mux is allright and same channel on other tunner with no problems. im allready post tvh log on irc but ..., and sometimes i simply coulnd reply that problem. maybe silly question but could a sending of diseqc commands make some troubles, even if satconf is setted up to default untouched..?

As far as I know there are adapters and namely the terratec that give the impression that signals degrades over time when it does not. I remember this has been discussed in the past and I think that for those adapters, monitoring should be enabled only there are potential signal problems.

I would agree with Eric that disabling monitoring would be a good idea (if you've not already done so). However the above log would tend to suggest there are genuine errors in the receiver for this particular signal, why I cannot say.
However I'm inclined to say the problem is NOT TVH's signal strength indicator in this case, because there are so many CC and transport errors.

I agree that the submitter indeed has errors that are different than just a false bad signal quality indication. I just wanted to point out that terratec adapters are know returns signal strength value that decrease over time even when signal is perfect.

Hello,
I have the same issue, with Tvheadend 3.2.18~g40a8920~quantal. With a tuner PCTV nanostick 73e (ID 2304:0237 Pinnacle Systems, Inc. PCTV 73e [DiBcom DiB7000PC]).
But i can reproduce the problem with dvbtune : dvbtune -m -f 474166000 -I 2 -cr AUTO -crlp AUTO -hy AUTO -i
I think the problem is in the driver not in TvHeadEnd.

I agree, I think there is enough anecdotal evidence to suggest the problem relates to signal monitoring on some cards. Try disabling quality monitoring and if that doesn't help we'll re open.
