I have to make a wrapper on regular xmltv scripts to set http_proxy to manage to get epg data as I have a to use it to pass the enterprise firewall.

Eric,

I'm not sure about this. I know where you're coming from, but I prefer my new solution. For "complex" XMLTV usage, where complex can mean anything other than just running the script at fairly adhoc times.

My new code provides a unix domain socket interface that you can pump data into, so you could for example run XMLTV scripts from cronjobs, do pipelining of scripts (tv_grab_xxx | tv_sort | whatever).

I'm going to reject this, personally I prefer the solution I have, since it exists and removes the requirements for handling lots of random configuration for external packages.

However I'm happy to accept a patch.
