Infuse 2.0 and streaming?

Added by Magnus Ottosson almost 11 years ago

Hi,

Has anyone tried infuse 2.0? It's an ios app that, with the new 2.0 release, is supposed to be able to stream "anything" to the ipad and also airplay the stream to the appletv. This would be awesome to use to play the tvheadend stream.

I tried the vlc app but unfortunately it doesnt work to airplay the stream to the appletv. I only get sound when I airplay the video to the tv. I'm looking for a solution where I can just run a backend with tvheadend and be apple to airplay livetv to my appletvs because I already have an appletv at every tv set in my house.

you can't stream to appleTV it does not support 50/60 frames per sec, only 30..aleast from what i know... have an appletv my self.

and the Ipad and iphone only support 30 fps to.

would recommend a raspberry pi /raspbmc

I run tvheadend on a raspberry pi but I dont like XBMC. It's a bit bloated and it seems a bit buggy with tvheadend. Can the airvideo play the tvheadend stream directly from the app? Or do I need the server as well? Can the server take the input from tvheadend and transform it to the app?

mk808 android with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tvheadend.tvhguide works a treat for me I agree with xbmc and the pvr stuff it's a bit of a faff.

Ah, the mk808 looks nice. You connect it directly to the tv via hdmi and you rund tvhguide directly on the device? How do you control it?

RE: Infuse 2.0 and streaming? - Added by matthew pollard almost 11 years ago

Yep - you choose what video player it uses e.g. vlc or omx ro whatever. I think it will play and d stream too i am not that bother about hd so haven't tried. I have an mce remote that works with it. But you can get others. If you look on amazon there are few you can use. Droidmote allows control from another android device. You can also plugin a usb to ethernet thingy to allow wired network too. oh and it's cheap.

OK, it looks nice. I think I will give it a try. How does the tvhguide loook on the tv (720p or 1080p) does is scale the interface nicely?

I have a MK802III, i think the software is crap.. not updatet or secure at all!!!..

i would nok recommend MKXXX at all, so if you think raspbmc is bad.. android on MKXXX is worse i think...

proof of concept nothing more...

buy a raspberry pi, get an old SD card for bootup, install on quick USB DISK raspbmc and overclock to Super...

I don't use the PVR built into XBMC, i use tvguide or just htsp://server (HTSP) as a source..it act like files.. so much quicker in use!.

Not it does not scale nicely but it is usable.

As I said I have not tried the hd side of it although omx should do it apparently - xbmc on the default mk808 rom will not. I disagree that android is bad - on mine I have jelly bean and it is ok - not great but fine for what I use it for. There are also loads of roms available for it - mine came rooted with jelly bean -I think it would be hard to find kitkat for one of these. You can also run netflix on it which is the main reason I bought it.

;-) i don't say android is bad, but there are many bad roms out there.. and they don't get updated..

and the roms for any MKXXX is not secure.. Xbmc on raspberry or MKxxx have not been that stable but thats because of XBMC on ARM is only officially a year old now.

remember android is not opensource, they just release some of the code with each release.

I do think RaspBMC the last 3 releases have been rock solid, and the lastest(nov) is got danm fast.. raspberrypi.org have fixed the corupt SD card problem this past 2 weeks.

and nexflix is comming next month to raspbmc...

so back to streaming...i do think raspberry/xmbc is your best bet right now...

i was looking forward to this project pidvbip : https://github.com/linuxstb/pidvbip
but it seems the development have stopped.

For me the problem is not with raspberry pi but with XBMC. I'm running XBMC on both a dedicated PC with Ubuntu (boot XBMC as frontend) and a raspberry pi with raspbmc. I'm having troubles with that XBMC hangs from time to time. But I guess for now XBMC is my best option.

are you overcloking? and witch PSU are you using? it's rare that i have that issue... slow/bad sd card and do it to..

i use samsung or sandisk sd, and this PSU: http://www.adafruit.com/products/658 it powers my raspbmc, voip, cubieboard, hd-homerun dual..

running super!.

but XBMC is not the most stable software that's true.. ;-)... but i do think it's the best we got.
