"Cubieboard 2" as headless tvh server?
Added by Hauke Hagedorn about 11 years ago
Hi,
i'm looking for a solution that can cope with at least two sundtek dvb-s2 usb-sticks
and due to the fact, that the usb stack of the rpi is not "that good",
i stumbled over "cubieboard 2". it consists of a cortex a8 dual core cpu with 1GHz,
1GB ddr3 ram, a mali400mp2 gpu which can do 1080p, but that's not really needed as i plan
to have some rpi's as clients. (i've heard that hardware accelleration on the mali gpu is a problem)
and yes, theres a sata port onboard (more specs on http://www.cubieboard-europe.com/)
would that be enough for tvh or are there any problems, i've overseen?
thx

so, 12 days and a vacation later i got it working - at least with one 406e based tuner,
since i didn't order the sundtek sticks yet. finding documentation on cubieboard issues
is a bit like... well.. it's hard
there are still some things on the todo-list, but basically watching tv (HD/SD with descrambling)
works so far, like attaching a hdd for recordings, writing the OS to the much faster internal nand rather than booting from
SD-Card...
