USB Satellite Twin Tuner?

Added by Chris Townson about 11 years ago

I'm looking to replace my ageing Humax HDR. I have a Synology DS212+, so I thought I could use that as a PVR?
Is there such a thing as a USB satellite twin tuner? I still require the ability to watch one channel whilst recording another.

Thanks :)

Sure... Well actually not, but its not a big deal. You can just get 2 USB tuners...
(On a side note - some PCI-e twin tuner cards are in fact just 2 USB cards put on one PCI-e card.. Just like the Tevii S480, which is two S660 tuners on a card..)

I run the Tevii S660 USB tuner card (on i868 hardware) - It is working very reliable and stable for me...

Thanks for the reply, Tony.
That's great! So I just buy 2 USB tuners and TVheadend can detect them both so I can still record whilst watching another channel?

Yes. That's the way I'm doing it.
I have two Technisat Skystar HD USB (but on a normal PC).
Works really great and Tvheadend recognised the second tuner automatically.

I wonder if a couple of these would do the trick?

No mention of Linux support though. I'm assuming it would need this (Linux driver) to run on a Synology NAS?
