Too many open files - repeated disconnections

Added by Sam Tope over 11 years ago

I am running Tvheadend 3.4 from within a raspbmc installation as both server and frontend. I'm using a K-world adapter.

If I try to map my services to channels with service checking enabled, the process never completes - I get a "There seems to be a problem with the live update feed from Tvheadend. Trying to reconnect..." in the log and upon reconnection a few seconds later, it begins performing the initial scan of all muxes again.

If I map my services without the check, then try to access the channels via the frontend, the frontend will repeatedly disconnect while "Jul 16 15:58:28.332 dvb: "_dev_dvb_adapter0_Kworld_UB499_2T_T09_IT9137__1490000000_1200" unable to open demuxer "/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0" for pid 301 -- Too many open files" and suchlike appear recurrently in the log. PMT monitoring has been disabled, this does not seem to have helped.

This has been working without issue in the past. How do I restore it to functionality?

In addition, the mux data for my transmitter (uk crystal palace) is either out of date or just wrong. Is there an easier way to supply mux data without feeding it in manually?

Says it doesn't do full mux - if configuration -> dvb inputs (select card) -> "Full mux reception" is on - turn it off. Also while there maybe check "Close device handle when idle"

As for nux data - yea they tend to be out of date for UK since DSO and 4G band clearance.

You only need to enter one for Uk dvb-t. You could scan with w_scan or for the UK get the details from -

http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/index/dummy/NA/yes

check the detail view box (if unchecked - maybe that's what the yes on the url does), enter postcode - you can see more info if you hover the mouse over the channels.

Oops I forgot that just shows channel numbers - to convert to freq -

For channel number N frequency in Hz =

(306 + (N x 8)) x 1000000

If the channel number has a + or - after it add/subtract 167000

    (1-2/2)
