Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 tuning failed

Added by Mats jonsson over 11 years ago

Hello, im trying to get Tvheadend working in fedora 18 but so far no go.
Adapter is usb ID 2040:6500 Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 hybrid tuner and im trying to find dvb-t channels only.

If i reboot the machine in windows 7, all is fine and all channels located.

Its probably not a tvheadend issue but i must start looking somewhere.
Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the long post.

In fedora 18 tvheadend-3.2.18 webgui displays:

This doesn't really sound like a tvheadend problem, if other programs don't find anything either. Just taking a shot in the dark here. This may not be your problem, but... Do you have the proper firmware installed correctly? I was looking up information, and the driver for your device appears to be supported in the kernel. However, you still may need the firmware installed, as well. With those in place, your device should be functioning. On my Hauppauge HVR-1950, it took me a while to figure out that the extra firmware files needed to be installed.

RE: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 tuning failed - Added by Mats jonsson over 11 years ago

Indeed, it was Not related to tvheadend. It was a missing firmware as mentioned by Mike.
After some googling i found and downloaded it to /lib/firmware , fired up tvheadend and there it was.

Thanks for the info

Hi Mike,

Sorry to hijack this thread.. im just looking for a solution to my issue.

I was wondering how you got your HVR 1950 working ? I have trouble with my setup and can't get analog device to show in the devices. Can you help? https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/8321?r=8325

RE: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 tuning failed - Added by Mike Freeman over 11 years ago

Ryan,

To be honest, none of the channels around here (either antenna or cable) are analog, so I've never tried to use the analog side of the device. Wish I could help, but I don't have any experience with that.
