MediaMVP Hauppauge
Added by Michael Schneider almost 12 years ago
Hi guys,
for several years I run now a Linux server as TV server station and multiple clients, e.g. 2x MediaMVP Hauppauge for old-styled tubes and XBMC on HD screens.
However the server is VDR. I want to play a little with TVheadend, as I've read lately a lots of news about it - and honestly, I don't use the VDR frontend at all.
So, TVheadend is theoretically more appropriate to my use case.
But I couldn't find anything about the re-usage of MediaMVP clients. Doesn't exist any port at all?
What do you use for old stlyed tubes?
Thanks.
Michael

Hi,
No, as far as I'm aware there is no tvheadend client for the MediaMVP.
I own a pile of them (I bought a batch of 5 for about 10 UK pounds on ebay - sold as untested, but all working fine), and I did intend to use them as clients for DVB streaming (I started writing my own client and server), but with the increase in the number of HD channels and the launch of the Raspberry Pi, I scrapped that idea and have replaced them all with Pis and tvheadend on the server.
I'm writing my own tvheadend client for the Pi - https://github.com/linuxstb/pidvbip - and this probably wouldn't be too hard for an experienced C programmer to port to the MediaMVP, but as I don't own any CRT TVs any more, I've no motivation to do it.
Dave.
