Diseqc switch howto?
Added by Paolo Roascio over 13 years ago
Hello, my htpc use 2 cards, a Hauppaugue hvr 2200 for dvb-t and a Tevii S464 for satellite, connected to a dual feed diseqc LNB.
DVB-t works flawlessly by both frontends, but i can't tune the second LNB. In seems like settings in "Satellite Config" tab are ignored (no matter if i put Universal or C-Band, or any switchport #) and the card tune only the first LNB.
Surely i'm doing something wrong:
The General tab shows:
Adapter name: Conexant CX24116/CX24118
Autodetect muxes: x
Idle scanning: x
Monitor signal quality:
Write full DVB MUX to disk:
NIT-o Network ID: 0
DiSEqC version: DiSEqC 1.0 / 2.0 (but with DiSEqC 1.1 / 2.1 no changes)
The Satellite Config tab is:
Default (Port 0, Universal LNB) 0 Universal Default satconf entry
LNB-2 3* Universal LNB-2
- no matter the switchport number, tried from 0 to 15: no changes...
Debug log are like this:
....
May 04 22:23:49 dvb: "12,635,000 kHz Vertical (No satconf)" on adapter "Conexant CX24116/CX24118", status changed to Bad signal
May 04 22:23:51 dvb: "12,635,000 kHz Vertical (No satconf)" on adapter "Conexant CX24116/CX24118", status changed to Faint signal
May 04 22:23:53 dvb: "12,635,000 kHz Vertical (No satconf)" on adapter "Conexant CX24116/CX24118", status changed to Bad signal
May 04 22:23:54 dvb: "12,635,000 kHz Vertical (No satconf)" on adapter "Conexant CX24116/CX24118", status changed to Faint signal
May 04 22:23:58 dvb: "12,635,000 kHz Vertical (No satconf)" on adapter "Conexant CX24116/CX24118", status changed to Bad signal
May 04 22:23:59 dvb: "12,635,000 kHz Vertical (No satconf)" on adapter "Conexant CX24116/CX24118", status changed to Faint signal
....
where "No satconf" i think mean that "Satellite Config" tab settings are ignored.
Now, if i do a
w_scan -fs -s S9E0
i get a channel list for the satellite on the first LNB (id 0 for me), while a:
w_scan -fs -s S13E0 -D3u (or -D3c, no matter)
i get the channel list for the satellite on the second LNB (id 3 for mine).
Then, is there someone who help me to set tvheadend to manage a diseqc switch as googling the only reference i found was a bug report (for other topic however) where the submitter wrote that diseqc switches work
flawlessly with tvheadend.
Thanks and sorry for my very bad english...

I have the same problem, and would also like to know how to do this.
I have been googling for a few days but can't find any additional information on how to setup a diseqc.
Also, for some reason when I scan for channels on the first LNB, it doesn't find all channels.
From provider 'Canal Digitaal' I find no channels at all for example..
thanks..

Hi
Had similar problems when i first tried tvheadend.
I have a 4-way DiseqC 1.0 switch now working perfect, this is what i did.
In satellite config tab:
Lnb1 (switchport) 0
Lnb2 (switchport) 1
Lnb3 (switchport) 2
Lnb4 (switchport) 3
Then in the general tab pressing "Add DVB network by location....." brings up the Add muxes window.
Near the bottom is the line to choose the diseqC port. I missed that one the first time, it is not present when you configure a dvb-t adapter.
Hope this can help.
Thanks to Andreas for this excellent software.

Hello Jimmy
Near the bottom is the line to choose the diseqC port. I missed that one the first time, it is not present when you configure a dvb-t adapter.
Great! this did the trick!
Now diseqc works perfectly!
But... i think that the small empty combo you refer to is a bit anonymous in the add muxes window and distracted users (like me) may skip that setting.
Waiting for the rework promised by Andreas on this great software, i think it will be better if this combo is filled with the default satconf entry, so user attention would be captured.
Anyway thanks for your precious suggestion.
