Frequency format analog adapter

Added by Harald Nehring almost 12 years ago

I still receive a few channels only via analog cable. I keep an old PVR-150 around just for this which works fine with MythTV. In evaluating Tvheadend I wonder how to correctly define a service/channel for this card? Scantv gives me channel SE7 (147.25 MHz) for the station I'm looking for, how to type this into the "Frequency" field for my adapter's services? I tried "147.25" (wrong format), "147250" (kHz, no picture), maybe 147250000 (not tested yet)?

Answering my own question - frequency is entered in Hz, i.e. 174.25 MHz SE7 becomes "174250000" in the frequency field. Now the channel tunes and video shows - but no sound :-( One more thing to debug...

It's been a while since I had an analogue card, but IIRC they used either the "Line In" or "Digital Audio / CD Player" audio input on the soundcard to provide the audio - not sure how this works with TV Headend though.

You may also need to switch between "PAL I" "and PAL B/G" - the letters indicate the audio offsets.

The PVR-150 provides audio as part of the encoded transport stream, no problem with MythTV. The Tvheadend recording also includes an audio track, but it's all silence. You might be onto something with the PAL variants, unfortunately I don't see a way to tell Tvheadend to tell the video card.
