OTA US tuner card?

Added by Joe Souza about 12 years ago

I'm sure this has been asked a 100 times before, but I'm hoping somone might be so kind to save me some time. I am looking for a capture card for OTA, over the air, in the US. I have been searching online for one, but then I see mixed reviews, and get confused. I was thinkning Hauppauge, but at this point I have no idea. And I don't want to pay $99 for a PCHDTV HD-5500. I'm hoping fomr something cheaper. I really don't care if its a card or usb, as long as it works and gets all my ota channels. So if anyone knows of something that works well, please let me know.

I have three.
- An obscure dongle device from Evga, Evga inDtube Tuner, can be difficult to get going in linux, due to an apparent funky IF center frequency but I've put some good notes in the linux TV wiki to help getting it going.
It's not actively marketed anymore that I know of but ya can find em pretty cheap online, like ebay, etc. Performs pretty well on my outdoor antenna system.
- Hauppauge Aero-M, another USB dongle device with ATSC M/H support. Performs just as well on my outdoor antenna system. Think I got mine for ~ $60.
- ATI 650 USB Combo, which doesn't have any linux support at all.

I would suggest going thru the linuxtv wiki of ATSC devices supported in linux.
