TVHeadend 3.0 and Hauppage HVR 2200 PCIe

Added by Tommy Sharp about 12 years ago

Hi guys, like most people.... I do't know very much about linux so am bumbling my way through this....

I'm trying to get my HVR 2200 card working with TVHeadend and Geexbox....

I've seen people struggling with a combination of "drivers" and also the system taking too long to recognise the card and only doing so once TVHeadend is already up and running.

I've restarted TVHeadend manually through telnet and I can see it saying stuff about my card, although it does say HVR 2250 as that's the only driver I could find.

I've also seen people ask for a DMESG to try and troubleshoot....

Would anyone be able to help me out?

Are you sure you have the proper firmware installed? Here are some instructions I found:

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-2200#Making_it_Work

Read the instructions from that point down to the end of the page. Might not be your issue, but doesn't hurt to rule it out. I know that the biggest struggle in getting my Hauppauge WinTV 1950 working was getting the proper firmware installed.

As for the 2200 vs. 2250 driver issue, it's probably fine. As I said, I use a Hauppauge 1950. It uses the same driver as the 1900. They are pretty much the exact same hardware. The reason for the "50" at the end, if I'm remembering correctly, is that the 1900 is for PAL/DVB (Europe, etc.), and the 1950 is for NTSC/ATSC (USA). Yours could follow the same numbering concept.
