UK user - Channel 4 channels keep disappearing

Added by A L 10 months ago

Hi there.

I keep finding that all the channels from the channel 4 group keep disappearing - CH4, CH4+1, CH4HD, E4, Film4, Film4+1 etc.

Has anyone else noticed the same thing or can anyone suggest anything to keep them?

I am using the OTA Freesat and Sky grabbers for EPG and also one of the London Bouquets for my channel list.

I can get the channels to reappear by forcing a rescan of all the muxes on 28.2e.

However, the next day, the channels have gone.

I cannot work out whether the EPG grabber (which is set to run at 2am) or bouquet is somehow removing the channels.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

What tuner are you using. What hardware/OS is TVH installed on.

On first impressions I imagine it will be down to how you have your muxes configured during a scan using bouquet.

Is your system powered down at any stage or running 24/7. A little more info would save a lot of time.

In the meantime read this. It may point you in the right direction. https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/22360?r=36760

Thanks for that, Jonas.

I am running TVH, as a docker, on a Beelink Mini PC.

I have a Digbit SAT>IP box (with four tuners) connected to my satellite dish with a unicable.

I leave the server running 24/7.

Really interesting link. I shall have another look, in comparison to the settings I am using, and see if there is anything obvious that is causing problems.

You can see why I asked for a little more detail on your setup. Not exactly run of the mill. While I do use a Sat/IP tuner I don’t use Unicable and don’t use Docker either. I do reckon your issue is related to how the Freesat bouquet is handled in TVH though.

Ironically I tend to find that most of the setups that do cause users issues are generally outside the original scope of the TVH project like Dockers for example which are not officially supported and are usually related to ownership/permission issues.

Hopefully in the not too distant future Docker will see official support in the TVH project if this is anything to go by. Fingers crossed https://github.com/tvheadend/tvheadend/pull/1532
