Bug submission location

Bug submitted https://tvheadend.org/issues/6316
Is this where it is supposed to go?, seems no response, even an acknowledgement of good, bad, inappropriate, what ever.

Not sure who’s looking after what anymore. I posted this a month ago on the forum looking for a little clarity so it may point to an answer on your query. https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/50974

Nothing changed (yet), and when it does the same general lack of developers to review issues and work on fixes will impact the new location too.

Maybe going forward it might be an idea to keep things as upbeat and positive as possible. It’s very clear from reading the forum that development had fallen off the cliff 10+ years ago and was clearly highlighted by Adam Sutton at the time. The only annoying thing is that users with privileges who were active at the time did not pick up on this fall off didn’t manage to get full access to the forum/project as and when those who had it disappeared.
We are where we are now and are looking forward to the transition as promised. I assume as was already mentioned that a number of new developers/coders have expressed an interest in contributing to the TVH project. That’s got to be a good thing.
Personally I’ll continue to help and support any user or potential user that comes across any issues with TVH on the public forum as I hope others will to. Outside of that, as they say, what are we waiting for.

As far as I can tell, EPG Dump is really a developer/troubleshooting tool not intended for the average user. I would classify it as a 'nice to have' and not core functionality.
Unless something changes that requires lots of users to start analysing their EPG databases in depth, I view remediating this tool as a low priority.
Other opinions may vary.

Basically you’re saying that it’s not part of the core functionality of TVH. If that’s the case it would be a requested feature and not a bug as originally reported and should have ended up here https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/issues?query_id=4
At least the OP now has an answer.
RE: Bug submission location - Added by Delta Mike Charlie 10 months ago
I think that it is a valid bug. An existing part of the broader TVH suite does not function as expected.
I think that the bug should eventually be addressed when sufficient resourcing become available. However, because the EPG Dump utility is only useful in extreme edge cases and resources are scarce, this bug should be way down the list of priorities.
These are just my opinions. If some eager Python programmer wants to work on a solution tomorrow, that’s fine too.

Dave H has just provided an explanation here:
https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/51032?r=51257
This utility was written for Python2.
I no longer think that this is a bug. I think that it is an enhancement request to upgrade the script from Python2 to Python3. As there is a workaround (Use Python2), the priority just got even lower IMHO.

A reply with an explanation and a resolution. Nothing more the OP could ask for.
Hopefully that positive level of response prevails going forward. I’ve never doubted the forum had the bodies who could step up to the plate when required.
Bearing in mind the gap between now and the last serious development work carried out on TVH I’ve no doubt this won’t be the last issue of similar nature to arise.
