Ubuntu upgrade

Added by b kopi about 1 year ago

Hi all,

I've been postponing an upgrade of Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS to a newer version (currently Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS) for quite some time now.
Thinking back to all the hours of struggles it took me a few years ago to get Tvheadend up and running, I'm still hesitant.
Would it be possible to upgrade Ubuntu and leave my current Tvheadend installation (HTS Tvheadend 4.2.6-84~g81f56cc89) untouched?
Or will there be problems after an upgrade?

Thanks, kopi

Just back up your TVH config file as explained here and you can restore it after the upgrade if needed. A fresh install of TVH is not a problem these days as the Wizard does all the heavy lifting.

Never been a fan of upgrading a LTS version of Ubuntu. Backing up your current home folder, a fresh install and restoring your home folder to your new install is usually the way to go.
