EPG empty, does not seem to be populating.

Help please!

HTS Tvheadend 4.3-2120~g18effa8ad

Q: How long does it take for the EPG to populate itself?

I just installed TVheadend two hours ago, on Ubuntu 20.04, with an HDHomeRun Duo OTA ATSC tuner over the network.
All the channels show up fine on my other devices HDhomerun apps, with program guide info and details, etc.
Configuration>DVB Inputs shows the two HDHomeRun tuners and the IP address. I can ping the HDHR from the Ubuntu instance.
DVB Inputs>Muxes shows a bunch of them FAIL but a few are "OK".
Services shows a list of 53 channels and the mux (MHz channel) they are mapped to.
Channels>EPG is just empty.
Status>Stream shows the two HDHomeRun tuners both are tuned to a different Mhz.

What am I doing wrong? Maybe just impatient? Do I have to wait a day or two for this to all populate?

Thanks!

What source are you using for your DVB.

Like I said above my source is an HDHomeRun tuner. Specifically a Duo dual tuner model

I have three homerun devices working for the last 10 years. I have never had much luck with the DVB interface although it does have the SNR being visible. I think DVB sometimes locks tuners and does not release them. I have tried DVB recently and had to go back to IPTV. The way I do it is to use the IPTV automatic network and point it to a M3U file containing the HDHomeRun channels. I have a python file that I found on the Internet called "hdhr-listing-to-m3u.py" which pulls the channels down and creates the M3U file.

Once that happens you will need to get the EPG. It is not downloaded from HDHomerun, so you will need to get an EPG provider. I use zap2it.com There is quite a bit of work here, but I use a perl script from the internet called zap2xml.pl. Only issue is the categories from zap2it are not compatible with TVH, so I have a translator that changes the categories to something TVH likes. When I look at the EPG in Kodi, they have colors instead of all gray due to the translations.

Thank you, I will look into zap2it/zap2xml.

I really just need TVHeadEnd to use it as a DVR. I don't want to pay HDHomerun for their DVR.

I miss my Tivo but that eventually became a headache, this will just have to do for now, if I can get the EPG working in conjunction with the HDHRDuo.
