Setting tags on 212 Channels

Added by Snag Sational over 1 year ago

I was hoping I could export the contents of the Configuration > Channel / EPG > Channels into text, manage the data, then re-import the result.

There wasn't anything that I saw available to do that, but it's certainly possible, even likely, I'm missing it.

Is that possible? Otherwise, it's going to be a long slog going through 212 entries in the UI, checking the appropriate tag.

Have a look through this. You should be able to manipulate that information you’re looking for. https://github.com/dave-p/TVH-API-docs/wiki/Channel

Actually I don't think there is a way to edit the properties of channels via the API. Also the data is stored by Tvheadend in binary form rather than JSON so it can't be edited directly. However there is a shortcut if you have few tags and lots of channels.

On the Channels tab of the UI, select all of the channels for one tag then click 'Edit'. Tick the box to the left of the 'Tags' item, select the new tags and then click Save.

OK this won't work if there are overlapping tags since all existing tags will be overwritten, but it might speed up the task for you.

The UI trick is golden, Dave, works well for my situation because I've got my Services column such that when I sort, all of one tuner are together. Thanks!
