BBC One HD Freesat Changes & Incorrect Channel Names

Added by Sam Malcom almost 2 years ago

It looks like the local BBC One channel has switched to HD, as I've been reading about for a few weeks.

I've noticed that in my TVHeadend setup, BBC One HD and BBC One East have disappeared, and a new channel 101 has popped up, and when I play it, its BBC One HD as expected.

However, the name for that channel is 10373, rather than something along the lines of BBC One HD, and there's no EPG info either.

There are a few more channels like this.

As far as I can tell, my freesat bouquet (England HD: East (E)/Anglia E) is enabled and set to auto-map channels, and I've tried playing the 11425H mux a few times in VLC, but I'm still seeing these problems.

It's been a long while since I set tvheadend up, so I'm fully aware I'm a bit rusty when it comes to sorting these issues out.

Has anyone had any similar changes, have any suggestions?

TVH Version is HTS Tvheadend 4.3-2069~gc9a156a25

Yes I'm seeing the same. However today the other services on 10818V have changed to the correct names, so maybe the two BBC1 services will follow soon.

Interesting, in a way glad it's not just me as it means I probably haven't broken anything.

I'll keep an eye on it and fingers crossed it'll sort itself out!

Channel changes go testing before they go live with full channel name. Give it a few days and do a complete rescan to pick up the new names channels.

The service names on 10818V have updated sometime in the last hour.

Yep, can confirm I'm seeing the correct name now. Not seeing EPG info just yet, but I'll leave it a little longer with fingers crossed

It seems that for each multipex that BBC are working on, a sequence of operations is performed:

- mux parameters change from DVB-S to DVB-S2 (with changes of symbol rate, FEC etc)
- original tables (PAT, PMT etc) and video/audio streams disappear, with very low data rate for a few remaining tables
[delay of about 24 hours]
- new channels appear, but each one is identified by its SID rather than its name
[delay of about 24 hours]
- channel names and EPG data appear
- as scheduled by your crontab settings (eg overnight), TVH grabs the EPG data for the new channels
