Randon recording failure with "No input detected"

Added by Nils Nilson about 2 years ago

Hi,
I am trying since several days to out how to fix the following problem:
  • Recording worked reliable for a long time
  • Setup is: Ubuntu, TVHeadend, Sundtek DVB-S2-USB-Stick
  • Now recording fails....in ~70% of the attempts
What I already tried is the following:
  • Check access rights
  • Fresh install
  • Disable USB Standby
  • Trying to find any pattern (specific timing, specific stations, ...)

But so far no success.
It still works sometimes but in most cases it fails. In failed cases is appears in TVHeadend as "Removed Recording" with "File missing".

In most cases the log shows the following:
Oct 25 01:24:42 tvheadend945: dvr: Recording unable to start: "WHATEVER NAME TO BE RECORDED": No input detected
Oct 25 01:24:44 tvheadend945: subscription: 0006: No input source available for subscription "DVR: WHATEVER NAME TO BE RECORDED"
Oct 25 01:25:00 tvheadend945: message repeated 8 times: [ subscription: 0006: No input source available for subscription "DVR: WHATEVER NAME TO BE RECORDED" to channel "WHATEVER STATION"]

Any good proposals how to locate and fix the problem?

Thanks for your support!

What version of TVH are you running. Have you upgraded recently.

The version states: HTS Tvheadend 4.3-2033~g4741b3c19

It was working for a long time without any problems. The problems started somewhen in August. I am not aware of any updates.... But as I try to keep my system up-to-date, there may have been updates....

Recently I made a complete fresh install of my Ubuntu. First I copied the settings. After the issues were there again, I removed tvheadend and sundtek drivers. Then I did reinstall both without copying the settings.
But still the problem came back.

You don’t mention what hardware your usb dvbs is plugged into but I’m guessing you could be experiencing power supply issues. This article is worth a read https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?t=36136
The fact that it was working in August and not working properly now leads me to believe that this could be the case. You can see from that link I supplied a number of owners were experiencing issues using TVH too

I need to check the device in detail. It is some Suntek DVB-S2 stock, some years old.
Do you mean the power supply of the device or of the LNB? I'll read the forum which you linked.

The power supply on the usb dvbs stick. You will see from the link I posted some other possible solutions too
