checking DVB-C for EPG

I'm using tvheadend with a DVB-C USB-Stick (Ubuntu). For one DVB channel, the EPG has disappeared. How can I check if the EPG is encoded in the channels signal? Is there a command line tool to analyze the DVB signal to see if there is an EPG/EIT?

Viewing a stream with VLC, one can go into tools->program guide to display the EPG if it is there.
