Scanning problem

Added by Gabor Mohacsi over 2 years ago

Hi guys,
I just installed Tvheadend on ubuntu, with hauppauge QuadHD card. I set up the network with pre-defined muxes ( DVB-C, Hungary hu-Digikabel) but when I scanned them, as a result, a lot of channels are missing. From the same source I was be able to scan all the channels on a smart tv. I have no idea why the 30% of the channels are missing on Tvheadend. Do you have any recommendation what to do? Thanks in advance.

Is network scaning enabled?

The network discovery is set to new muxes + changed muxes.

Ubuntu 16.04.7 Kernel 4.4 I use Hauppauge QuadHD with it's driver [[https://hauppauge.com/pages/support/support_linux.html]]

Hi, I have the same turner and ran into this problem. When I scanned the default muxes for USA local channels, I only received a few. I corrected this problem by turning off 3 of the tuners and rescanning the predefined muxes with 1 tuner only. I had to rescan a few times before all channels muxes were loaded. Once you receive the desired muxes and map the channels, turn all of the other remaining 3 turners back on within "TV ADAPTERS." DO NOT rescan after you turn these tuners back on. They should automatically tune in and recognize the muxes when played by your clients.

Good luck
Lisa

@ Lisa White your device Hauppauge model 165100 is
total different from rest of the world Hauppauge model 166100.
We use DVB standard not ATSC

If there is a good signal and operator use correct NIT scan process pass for seconds.
Else need to be created init scan file with w-scan with TVHeaend to use as pre-defined.

Hi Gabor,

did you manage to solve your issue?

I followed https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/46257 and tried

./w_scan2 -f c -c HU

w_scan2-1.0.14 (compiled for DVB API 5.11)
https://github.com/stefantalpalaru/w_scan2

using settings for HUNGARY
Country identifier HU not defined. Using defaults.
scan type CABLE, channellist 4
output format vdr-2.0
output charset 'UTF-8', use -C <charset> to override
Info: using DVB adapter auto detection.
    /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 -> CABLE "Silicon Labs Si2168": very good :-))
