BBC THREE HD 17920 / 546MHz

Added by Marc Ominus almost 3 years ago

Just noticed that BBC THREE HD PID 17920 appeared in the Programme list on VLC,
when playing the DVB-T2 multiplex 546MHz directly from DVB tuner.

But when I switch to it, there is nothing playing ...

Looking up iPlayer, shows nothing broadcasting .....
Is that not meant to be on-line only channel?

I see I have missed this:

https://www.freeview.co.uk/help/service-updates/bbc-three-launch

Following Ofcom’s consultation on BBC’s proposals for the launch of BBC Three,
the channel will be launching on Freeview channel 23 in SD and channel 109 in HD
(For England, Northern Ireland & the Channel Islands) on 26 January 2022.

What’s changing?
All channels between channel numbers 23 and 82 will be moving up one channel number except Dave Ja Vu who will be moving up 2 channels from 23 to 25.

But I can not get the BBC Three 23/BBC Three HD 109 channels to show on TV HeadEnd.

I am running latest unstable version HTS Tvheadend 4.3-1983~gb8710206e.

It should have all happened on on 26 January 2022.

I have turn on "Idle scan muxes" in Networks, but nothing showing.

They are showing for me but are hidden by default in the services tab because there is limited service data, no video etc

In the services tab there's a drop down option called "hide" change that to none and you'll see them.

I'm having the same issue where BBC Three (and BBC Four) channels are only showing after selecting Hide = None in services tab. However when trying to map these services tvheadend is ignoring them. Don't know if it's a tvheadend issue or local transmitter issue (Hannington).

Force scanned (multiple times) earlier today and it doesn't change the situation for me. Is there a way to force tvheadend to map a service to channel?

The service needs to be broadcasting audio/video - this requires a rescan during broadcast hours.

Clicking the I info icon should show you something like this.. notice the video/audio streams

Thanks Mark. Rescanning and mapping services to channels while BBC Three is broadcasting fixed it for me.

Didn't realise TVH will only map if broadcasting. Learn something new.

It will map, but it won't play because TVH hasn't seen the audio/video/subtitle data streams during the initial scan. It won't update the info unless told to, although IIRC playing a mux will also update it.

It didn't map to a channel for me earlier in the day. And as it didn't map to a channel it was not appearing in the EPG either. I could see the service if I set Hide to None on the services tab but when mapping to channels it was "ignored".

Even this evening, for example, I can see Blaze+1 and TCC in services (with Hide set to None) but TVH won't map them to channels. I see on my TV that these channels start broadcasting from 3am... not worth staying up to get TVH to map those!

Oh well, it worked in the end.
