UK Channel 4 AUDIO inaudible
Added by Marc Ominus almost 3 years ago
I had no time to test the new install of HTS Tvheadend 4.3-1983~gb8710206e before Xmass,
and just noticed playing (On PC Debian 11 | VLC 3.0.16) all the recordings from Channel 4 would be playing fine when the adverts
are on, but as soon as the "program" starts it becomes inaudible, for the whole period of the program
until the adverts start again and then the audio would start working again and then after add it would be inaudible again
for the whole program length until the adds come on when the audio would start working.......
There was no "Errors" or "Data errors" during the recording ...... anyone any advise?
Here is the mediainfo of one of the files:

The same file when playing on Android 11 device with VLC 3.4.2 would start playing the file without any audio problems,
then few minutes it would cut out, on restarting playback the "audio" would not work any more
Changing from Audio - Disabled and back to Track 1 [English] does not work and the movie is silent, rewinding to adverts and
the audio would start working again ....fast forward to the movie and there would be no audio again .....
I am streaming the file in LAN via miniDLNA 1.3.0

I wonder if you are recording the "Visual impaired commentary" track instead of the primary audio?
This is what I get recording the same channel:

(Interestingly the source is given as Astra 19.2E despite being recorded from Freeview).
This plays fine with VLC 3.0.16.
The main difference is that I'm using the 'pass' profile which just records the raw data stream.

This is strange as you have Visual impaired commentary included, but my is missing or disabled:
dvr: 3 AAC-LATM eng 96000 ? <disabled, no valid input>
Attached Streming/Recorder profile settings.
Out of interest what tuner do you use?

I have just tried on RaspberryPi running HTS Tvheadend 4.3-1986~g09a2c71ab and (recording to SD Card short samples in mkv and TS and both have got the second audio track
Sample rate showing as 96000, with unknown channels ... is that not strange?

And TS stream has got an Original network name as Astra Satellite Network 19,2'E as well.
So it must be a wrong settings maybe?
But I have compared settings on both machines and they are identical.
I have installed TVH from Repo:
deb https://apt.tvheadend.org/unstable bullseye main
Should I just backup /home/hts/.hts/tvheadend/* and start again or is there an alternative?
