UK Freesat Channels Missing in EPG

Added by Roger Headley over 3 years ago

This is very strange, using TVHeadend 4.3.0 on Ubuntu 20.4, everything has been working fine for a very long time with the EPG fully populated. Now, suddenly, on 3 channels ITV2, !TV4 and ITVBe the EPG ends on 27 May. I'm using the "Over-The-Air UK Freesat" EPG Grabber on 11428H and 11426.5H. These channels are tuned in correctly and play with no problems.

Has anyone else noticed this or could offer any help in restoring the EPG for these 3 channels?

These channels have all changed transponder, though presumably the old services are still active for now.

Thanks for the information, I've just managed to find them on the new frequencies and finally the EPG has fully populated again.

Beware that some regional versions of ITV1 on SD have disappeared because ITV is concentrating it regional service on HD, and leaving only a few SD regions (you choose the one closest to you, even if it's not "your" region). I fell foul of this a month ago when SD versions of ITV Yorkshire (East and West) disappeared. ITV (Granada) is now my closest.

The situation seems to be changing day by day, rather than being one huge change and then it's all over. Existing SD and HD versions of ITV are moving from one transponder to another. It's not so much a case of "the old services are still active"; it's more that the old ones still have the service name "ITV" (etc) and the new ones (at present) have the service name of the SID (eg "1234" rather than "ITV"). I presume at some later stage the old version will disappear and the new one will be called "ITV" / "ITV2" / "ITV4" etc. I asked what woudl happen if I set the old and new instance of ITV services as both being members of the channel "ITV", and whether this would give a seamless changeover - but no-one's replied to my thread.

Further to that, I found for example if I used the old channel still marked as ITV2 then the EPG was missing but if I used the new channel named only by its SID number then the EPG would download. That was the same for all 3 of the channels for which I had lost the EPG.

Edit: Just ran another channel scan and the channels which previously only had an SID number now have the correct channel names.
