Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal Forsa) unstable build in official repository

Added by Sven B almost 4 years ago

The build process of unstable TVheadend for Ubuntu 20.04 on Doozer works fine, but why there isnt a focal unstable build in the official repository https://apt.tvheadend.org/ ? The stable focal build is already there.

I was upgrading my TV server, moving from Xenial to Focal. Ran into the same issue of the missing distribution in the unstable repo.

I ended up just downloading the latest Focal build from Doozer (https://doozer.io/tvheadend/tvheadend) and installing that using dpkg -i

Hopefully the focal build will be added so we will at least be prompted by apt itself if there is an update :)

3 months have gone by since this thread was opened and still no tvheadend for focal fossa under unstable at [[http://apt.tvheadend.org/unstable/dists/]] . It's a bit weird, since even the development team writes "Development is the recommended choice for most people as Stable is very out-of-date at the moment".

The only site providing tvheadend for actual Ubuntu distros is [[https://launchpad.net/~mamarley/+archive/ubuntu/tvheadend-git]] .

Pity, as I always prefer to install from the original site, but thanks a lot to Michael Marley, or users running Ubuntu >18.04 would still be running old tvheadend releases.

Big thanks to Flole Systems #5921. Unstable Focal Repository works now.
