Tvheadend constantly crashing

Added by Sébastien Aubry over 12 years ago

My Tvheadend setup is constantly crashing and restarting for a few hours (see attached log).
I suspect it to be due to the fact that my disk is full (see other message Automatic cleaning of recordings).
The EPG must be corrupted. Deleting ~/.hts/tvheadend/epgdb allows tvheadend to restart.
This behaviour occurs to me regularly, when my hard disk is full. Manually deleting some old recordings solves it, and then these problems occur again when my disk is full.

Also, the newly executed instances of tvheadend each run an XMLTV subprocess (tv_grab_fr). I sometimes get dozens of these processes. Shouldn't it check if another instance of the grabber is already present before executing it?
I have noticed that when it works, my grabber (tv_grab_fr) needs a few hours to complete.

Thanks!

So why you don't install a bigger disc? If you are climbing to the limit of a system you have not about wondering of side effects. If you discovering that's not appear if free space was not cause this problem why don't you repair this?

Hi,
Thank you for your concern. I already have a 1TB disk, which allows me to store about one month of TV recordings and is enough for me. I usually record 10 to 15 programs per day. What I want is to automatically clean up the old recordings in order to record the new ones, so that I always have the choice between the movies which were recorded since one month ago. This feature is implemented in the other PVR suites such as For The Record, MediaPortal, Media Center, etc.
