Trying to scan services that are not broadcastibg actually

Added by Markus Buech almost 4 years ago

I am from Germany and try to find channels from sky, which are not always broadcasting.
it is about sky bundesliga 2-10,sky sport 3-11 and eurosport 360 1-11.
These channels are only active if there is actually a program running on them.
all my other hardware can detect them even if they are not broadcasting at this moment, but tvheadend does not.
I can only find them with tvheadend if they are broadcasting in the moment of scanning the muxes.

Is there any way of detecting these channels with tvheadend?
I hope it is understandable what I mean.

Feed hunting of blind scan is not implemented in TVH also to lot of drivers.

This repo was depreciated when it hit bitbucket 2Gb limit. The repo is now hosted at....

In response to OP, there is no way to manually create services in TVHeadend. The channel must be listed in a PMT in order for TVH to scan in the service. Simplest for you is to probably just enable idle scanning for the network that has the mux(es) for these channels and eventually it should catch them when they are on.

Another situation is with so called "Hidden channels". In this case there are video and audio pids for channels in the transport stream that are not listed in any Program Table. They can never be scanned in. STB often have a feature for manual PID entry where you simple enter the video, audio and PCR pid manually and a service is created for this channel. TVH has no feature. These hidden channels are found by examining transport stream with software like updateDVB, TSReader and the like. There are many of these on satellite in North America.

Complicated process to get these channels into TVH which I could explain if this turns out to be the case with your channels. I suspect not though as you state they do scan in at times.
