Newbie guidance needed

Added by Pete B about 4 years ago

Hi everyone. Very new to TV streaming and would appreciate your guidance.

I have installed raspberry OS and TVheadend on a Pi 3b+ with a Raspberry TV hat.

I have scanned the TV channels successfully. If I down load a channel m3u file and play in VLC it's absolutely flawless for both SD and HD channels.

However, when I try to play a TV stream directly in TVheadend from the web interface the stream buffers and stalls.

I haven't changed any settings so my installation is completely standard. Any advice how I can get the stream to play smoothly within TVheadend?

Many thanks in advance.

Are you playing the stream on the Pi or on another device?
What is the stream video encoding? MP4? Mpeg2?
Does the m3u file provide a transport stream or something else?

Hi Hiro.

The Pi is connected to my LAN via ethernet. I'm attempting to watch the TV stream on my windows laptop and on my Android phone. Both using a Chrome browser. I have also tried Edge.

I'm not sure about your last two points. All settings on my TVheadend setup are as installed. How can I check and get the answers for you. Sorry for my ignorance. This is my first experience with this but I'm keen to learn ;)
