CPU Farm

Added by Chris Walker over 4 years ago

Hi,

I swear I've seen a post about doing this previously, but I can't find it now, so apologies if this has already been answered.

I currently have one server with 4x tv tuners. It's using the pass stream/record profile and I've been relying on the clients to de-interlace. The server can easily hande this. I've noticed that the picture quality is much better if I transcode it on the server, but the server can only handle one HD stream at a time with transcoding enabled.

I have a few other computers that are on 24x7, so I'd like to make the CPUs in these available to TV Headend. Is this possible? If not, I might put a GPU in the server and go down that path, but it looks like that requires a fair bit of effort to get working.

The server is an 8 core, 24GB x64 CentOS box.
The clients are Raspberry Pi 3s with OSMC installed.

Thanks in advance.
