*Version of TVHeadend: version 4.2.8-34~g24a2f59e9
*Running on what OS and version: Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
*Package that came with the OS or something you compiled yourself: from apt, default sources.
*Adapter/tuner chipset or make/model:Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL2838 DVB-T
*Detailed description of problem:
Hi, I just installed tvheadend on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Plus Rev 1.3.
There are 2 usb devices, including the DVB device:
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 174c:55aa ASMedia Technology Inc. Name: ASM1051E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1053E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1153 SATA 3Gb/s bridge, ASM1153E SATA 6Gb/s bridge
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 0bda:2838 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL2838 DVB-T
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0424:7800 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:2514 Standard Microsystems Corp. USB 2.0 Hub

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
I'm facing artifacts and freezes.

What's your signal strength like?
Sometimes you'll find USB devices require more signal strength to work reliably than a TV does.
RE: Continuity counter error & Transport error indicator - Added by tilo Stadi over 4 years ago
Thanks for your quick answer!
As far as I know, the signal strength is excellent:
Which is quite normal because it's a dvb-c tuner, I don't use a small internal antenna but the wall antenna plug.
EDIT : and I just tested to plug this same dvb usb key, connected to the same antenna, directly to my laptop. Now it's perfectly working, no freeze nor artifact.
So it seems to be linked to my raspberry pi setup.
Any idea?

"[425280.400909] usb 1-1.1.3: dvb_usb_v2: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer"
Does your pi have an MPEG2 license?
RE: Continuity counter error & Transport error indicator - Added by tilo Stadi over 4 years ago
I haven't.
But these tv streams are in H264, not in MPEG2 right?
" H264 @ #420 Continuity counter error (total 289)"
RE: Continuity counter error & Transport error indicator - Added by Hiro Protagonist over 4 years ago
Yeah, if it's H264 you should be good.
Have you checked if there is updated firmware for the tuner?
RE: Continuity counter error & Transport error indicator - Added by tilo Stadi over 4 years ago
There is not.
As I said earlier, the same tuner is perfectly working on my laptop. Which is also running debian buster.
So I guess the problem is somewhere else than in the tuner.
Any idea?

Is LNA enabled?
RE: Continuity counter error & Transport error indicator - Added by tilo Stadi over 4 years ago
I assume not, according to line 5:
{ "rootpath": "/dev/dvb/adapter0", "frontends": { "DVB-T #0": { "lna": false, "pids_max": 32, "pids_use_all": true, "powersave": false, "tune_repeats": 0, "skip_bytes": 0, "ibuf_size": 188000, "status_period": 1000, "old_status": false, "enabled": false, "priority": 0, "spriority": 0, "displayname": "Realtek RTL2832 (DVB-T) #0 : DVB-T #0", "ota_epg": true, "initscan": true, "idlescan": true, "free_weight": 0, "remove_scrambled": false, "networks": [ ], "linked": "", "type": "DVB-T", "uuid": "8ae0da8f7c739bae71753082a2c9ee30" } }, "ca_devices": { } }
Should I change something?
RE: Continuity counter error & Transport error indicator - Added by saen acro over 4 years ago
this is generated so change in UI not in terminal
use femon to monitor status or dvb-fe-tool
