General question - do you bother backing up your recordings?
Added by A L almost 5 years ago
Hi there.
As per the title, I was just wondering what others do in terms of backing up their recordings (if at all).
Up to now, I haven't, - I figured that much of what I watch is repeated or available online (should my hard drive go).
However, I have about 4TB of stuff recorded and some of it is so old that it may well not be available anywhere else.
Was just wondering what other users felt.

Well, yes, they're on my computer so they get backed up just like everything else. But the whole TVH system was set up just to back up a Humax DVR that my wife understands anyway

Thanks Dave.
So you have the view that you back up everything you have on any hard drive?
My issue is that recordings are getting so big (i.e on Channel 4HD, recordings can run to many gigabytes), that it might be a bit too much to constantly back it all up.
That being said, however, HDDs are huge too.
I suppose I could just set a nightly backup for everything, like you.

Yes, that's right. Essentially disks cost twice as much as the shop price, because you have to buy two. It's not that simple in reality but it's roughly right.
