EPG 28.2°E "FreeSat"
Added by Marc Ominus about 6 years ago
Anyone else not receiving the full EPG from HD transponders?
I only ever get currently transmitting program and the next one.
I am using the TBS5520SE and the same is happening on my Samsung TV.

Freesat EPG has its own dedicated transponder on 11428H. Configure TVH to scan that mux once a day; you don't need to EPG scan the other muxes.

Thank you, all working now.
I am trying to find this transponder on both
https://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php
and
https://www.lyngsat.com/Astra-2E-2F-2G.html
and none of them has the transponder listed....?

Lyngsat list the transponder as 11426H and kingofsat have it as 11425H, while my tuner prefers 11428H. I don't know why there is a difference.

I'm having similar trouble. I can't get the Freesat bouquets to show up which is what I really want. In the past I have manually mapped channels but that's a pain.
I'm using a Grundig Sat>IP box, running tvheadend from the Linuxserver.io Docker container. I can see 8 services on 11425H (the mux was automatically picked up after a scan). Manually adding the mux 11428H just finds the same 8 services.
What I can't do is map the services because they "Ignored" when I try. I have tried to map the Freesat Information service (service ID 10528) but it's just an information service? I have also forced all the EPG scanners to be UK Freesat. Nothing works.
Any ideas?

It's a while since I set up TVH from scratch but IIRC to get the bouquets I 'played' the 11425H mux through VLC - nothing appears on the screen but TVH subscribes to the mux and grabs the data.

Hi Dave,
Thanks, I had done something like that to no avail. Although when I do stream the transponder through VLC, the SNR isn't great. I think I need to check my dish alignment. The dish alignment went totally off and only recently re-aligned. While we're all working-from-home I'm taking the opportunity to update my setup. :)
Cheers,
Graham.

Dish alignment sorted but no luck getting these silly bouquets to appear. I can stream the transponder, I can actually a couple of PIDs on the transponder (called D1 DAB and SDL nATL) but nothing works. I also tried streaming the Astra UHD Demo stream on 12441V. Nothing works.
I might try rolling back to the previous version of TVH (the 4.2 stream) instead of the latest build on the 4.3 stream.
Is there a way to debug the scan of the transponder from the command line?

You need to make sure the freesat EPG grabber modules are enabled too before you do the scan.

Thanks Mark, although for some reason I don't have that tab on the version of TVH I'm running. I'm running the Lunixserver.io Docker container tagged 'latest'. Therefore the about says "HTS Tvheadend 4.3-1857~g221c29b40". I was assuming that just meant all grabbers were enabled, but perhaps it's something else?

The grabbers I can select form the drop-down list in the Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> Muxes include (among others) UK: Freesat and UK: Freeview, but not UK: Freesat (EIT). So perhaps that's the one I need?

You need to go into the Grabber modules tab like in my screenshot :)
Make sure you have the view level set to "Expert".

It's weird but I can't see which Expert view would enable the grabber modules tab. Which one do you enable to get it?
Anyway, it looks like I've found another way. I've edited the epggrab/config JSON file and manually enabled the Freesat/Freeview grabber modules. This made a difference in that the mux scanning completed (always had about 30 left before) and I have a lot more services. Then when I stream the mux in VLC, the Freesat bouquets show up.
Thanks again Mark & Dave for your kind assistance.

I have just happen to notice that one channel is not showing EPG at all after enabling the Grabbers,
it's "Al Jazeera English HD" on Astra 2G 11582.25H .......
