tvheadand and dvbsky S960 (DVB-S2)

Added by bene sch almost 5 years ago

Hi everyone,

I had tvheadend running on my Raspberry PI with a DVB-T2 stick and was quite happy with it. However, I moved and here I don't have DVB-T2 reception anymore. But I have a satellite system available and I bought the dvbsky S960 to set it up with my system. However, I can't fully get it to run.

The dish and wiring should be fine. I get quite good reception with my normal TV. In tvheadend I set up a new Network with the predefined muxes 19.2E:Astra and the corresponding orbital position. After an initial scan I get 108 muxes and 483 Services. However, many services are missing and many of the others can't be opened.

For instance I can watch ZDFinfo_HD (11361.75MHz H) but ZDF_HD on the same mux is not possible.
ARD is not listed at all and if I try to set up the mux manually according to https://www.ard-digital.de/empfang/dvb-s the scan fails.
I couldn't find any German private stations (once I saw the muxes of the HD versions of the stations, but they are of course encrypted). I was looking for the SD ones.

Is there anything special with the dvbsky S960? The red LED is almost always on. As far as I read, it indicates that a station is tuned and it receives the data. But even if I close a stream and wait quite a while, it does not turn off.

Any help is appreciated a lot!

I found the reason. It was a bad cable. A new cable solved my problems.
