Help with drivers - DVB-C #0 - poll TIMEOUT
Added by Chris G about 5 years ago
Hello. I have been reading up and it seems something that changed in a kernel update causes the "DVB-C #0 - poll TIMEOUT".
I have no idea what kernel I was on when it was working, but I think it was 4.15 or 4.18.
I already have to build custom drivers for my DVB-S2 card using these steps...
cd /usr/src git clone https://github.com/tbsdtv/media_build.git git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/tbsdtv/linux_media.git -b latest ./media cd media_build uname -a rm -rf /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/extra rm -rf /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/media rm -rf /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/staging/media rm -Rf /lib/modules/4.15.0-29-generic/kernel/drivers/media make dir DIR=../media make remove make clean make dir DIR=../media make allyesconfig make -j4 make install cd reboot
Is it possible to modify these steps to use the older working drivers?
Here is example of what I already found https://tvheadend.org/issues/5178
What happens for me is my Xbox One USB DVB-C tuners after a few hours stop tuning/scanning stuff, I see "bad" and "poll TIMEOUT".
My TBS DVB-S PCI-E card continues to work but not as well as it normally does.
I am currently on a fresh updated install of Ubuntu, so thats kernel 5.0.0-25-generic.
The fresh install was a attempt to try and fix the issue.
Can anyone advise me how to fix this or properly revert to drivers that work?
Thanks,
Chris

TBS drivers not work with any other devices.

This isn't true. I had at least 1 month with no problems.
Since the problems started a reboot always fixes these issues and it is perfect for a few hours until the problems coming back.
EDIT: Proof it works after reboot...

I have been playing around and I think I have everything stable now.
I have always had "idle scan muxes" enabled. Whatever causes this issue was fixed by disabling this option. Strange how it caused no issue before. I guess a combination of kernel version and TVH version.
