Announcing bower bird a new Apple TV and iOS client
Added by Anu P about 5 years ago
Free for AppleTV & iOS . Bowerbird is a quick and easy way to watch your recorded shows and live TV from TVHeadend. Skip ads (30s skip) with a swipe while watching a recording, swipe back for 10 second skip back. Easy to set up, with a familiar UI designed for simplicity.
I would like to test this more. Please let me know if you are interested.

Client looks nice and it's good to have a new client.
Just to let you know that there's a spelling mistake on the sub-heading on the AppStore which might make it difficult for people to find the app. You have "TV Headened Client" (extra "e"). I think it should be one word too in the sub-heading and description, so "Tvheadend Client" (capital "T", lowercase "h"). Maybe also include the words "HDHomeRun" and "SAT>IP" in the description to get more hits.

One UI change I'd make is in the settings so "hostname" (which most people will change) is a separate form entry from "port" (which most people will not change).
I hope it gets non-mkv support in the future too.

Thanks, I have updated description. It should show up on the next refresh.
Good point on the port and server. I am about to put out 1.1 with tvos13 support and improved recordings schedule info (failed, up coming, space etc). I'll change the server settings on 1.2 .

Hey, I was trying this on my ATV last night and I ran into a few issues:-
1) The recordings screen misses some of the metadata, images etc. Some of the recordings I was unable to select.
2) The guide is empty. I can select and press play but I only get a black screen.
I can upload some screengrabs later if that helps at all?

Yes please. Also any info you can provide about your setup would help (do you have epg setup?)

Ok, I have TVHeadend 4.2.8 running on a Synology NAS, yes I have a fully working and populated EPG (UK freeview). TVHClient on the ATV displays a full epg without any issues, in comparison.
This is how the guide looks
This shows some of the missing images for recordings (I could actually select them, I just missed the highlighted text underneath)

Have you tired the most recent update? Is the issue persisting?
