How to Configure my TV Tuner Correctly

Added by Per Jørgensen over 5 years ago

Hi Forum
After several years with MythTV - I made the change to TVHeadend.

But I have a little issue
My Tunercard i a TBS6985 ( QUAD TUner)
As I read the description of the Tunercard - it have 4Tuners - that each can handle 12 streams - so all in all It could handle 48 streams

Where do I setup how many streams are available - as I can see - it defaults to only 4 streams ?

Another question - I have setup my own Oscam server - is one connection enough to handle all those streams - or should I configure more connections with different users to the Oscam server

Hopefully someone can tell me the answers to this problem

There is no limit how many services can handle tuner, this is operator decision.
There is a transponders with 50 services /i nave 27 services on 1 tuner/

1. set network
2. attach network to tuners
3. scan network
4. Select service you want to use and map them.

So by that - this decission regarding how many stream my Backend are allowed - are the OS/Driver decission?

Its actually running fine at the moment- both from kodi and IPADs. but well - with 3 kids in the house the 4 tuners are quickly in use.
But I'm interested a setting regarding how many streams are allowed pr tuner ?

In MythTV I could group the tuners - or set the numbers of maximum streams pr tuner (same OS/Driver = Debian9 + TBS official) and then I wondered if I could/should set the same settings somewhere in TVheadend

is there a way to see the available information regarding the tuner - since I would like to be able to record/view LiveTV --> more than 4 streams pr time.

Since my system is running DVB-S/S2 - I have a 9/8 Multiswitch instead of a Diseqc - so actually all frekvenses are available to the tuners - but off course 1 tuner can not be on VH and VL at the same tine.

Depend on what are you understand under "stream by tuner"
if you get channel X from tuner Y then unlimited clients Z can watch it

Example:
1 Mux with X services can be tuned to one tuner and streamed to unlimited number of client

Actually it is limited by network upload maximum.

p.s.
example of tuner information can be get by
