Schedules Direct EPG data keeps unlinking from certain channels.

Added by A L over 5 years ago

Hi guys.

I have a slightly odd issue that I am hoping you might be able to help with.

I get all my channels via Freesat and have a Schedules Direct account for the better data it provides.

Unfortunately, not all channels I get are covered by SD, so I have the SD grabber at a higher priority than OpenTV (OpenTV fills in EPG data for all the remaining channels).

When I first ran both grabbers, about 75% of the SD channels were automatically assigned the correct channel but the rest were not - e.g. The channel is known as BBC1HD on my system but SD call it BBCOneHD, so I have to manually link the two.

I do not reboot my server very often but, when I do, I note that I have re-link all the SD channels, again, that are not perfectly matched in name.

Is there anything I can do to stop this? Is it something to do with the fact that I am using the Freesat HD London bouquet?

I managed to sort out this problem and thought I would post the solution, in case it helps anyone else.

If you click on the EPG channel manager tab, there are lots of alias channel names listed.

For example, BBC1 might have "BBCOne","BBC1","BBC One" listed. You need to add the Schedules Direct channel to this list, making sure that it is absolutely identical in form.

Every time the system restarts, the SD Epg will automatically link to the appropriate channel.

Damn - still no joy.

I had to reset my server, last night, and all the channels with different names had unlinked themselves again.

Have tried everything and have run out of ideas, now.

Yet another issue that I have noticed:

I checked my system for updates and noted that there was one for TVH.

I installed it and checked TVH afterwards.

All those channels which I had manually assigned a Schedules Direct EPG channel to had been deleted and then replaced with the same channel but with OpenTV EPG only.

The knock on effect was that any timers that were set on these channels were wiped, so I had to set them all up again.

Unless I can sort this out, I might have to go back to OTA EPG grabbing, which would be a real shame.

EDIT - I have now added this problem to the issues log (https://tvheadend.org/issues/5666)
