epg running state and xmltv

Added by Craig Fisher over 5 years ago

Hi

I have been using the freeview OTA epg for the last couple of years but have recently signed up for the schedulesdirect service for (hopefully) better epg info.
However I have noticed that my recordings seem to no longer be using the epg running state setting to start recording just before the programme begins - it used to start around 10-20 seconds before the actual programme started. Now it is always whatever the padding times are (3 mins each end in my case)

I am assuming this is because I have started using the SD service (and moved its priority higher than the ota grabber, which is still enabled).

Is there any means of combining the two such that epg running time can still be used, or would I be stuck going back to the ota grabber only to have this feature working?

thanks

"running state" is not part of xmltv EPG, it is included in the EIT tables embedded in the streams which provide "over the air" EPG information. I am guessing you have disabled the "over the air" EPG source? You can try to enable the OTA EPG and set the priorities so the schedules direct EPG is used, BUT, I am not certain it will work since I do not know how the internal code works for multiple EPG sources...

No the OTA source is still enabled, just lower priority. I sort of assumed that enabling multiple epg sources would result in "gaps" being filled in by whichever source provided a given piece of meta data that the other doesn't (and where they provide same, priority settings then gets used).
Doesn't look like this is the case unless I'm missing a setting somewhere?

In that case, I would submit a bug report. Except for the rare case when titles and/or start/stop times significantly differ between xmltv and OTA EPG data, it should be possible to use the "running state" information from the EIT for programs.
